{"id":824,"date":"2026-05-03T12:17:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-03T12:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coalitionstopdesignerbabies.net\/?p=824"},"modified":"2026-05-03T12:17:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T12:17:15","slug":"cgs-confronting-eugenics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coalitionstopdesignerbabies.net\/?p=824","title":{"rendered":"[CGS] Confronting Eugenics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The Center for Genetics and Society recently launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geneticsandsociety.org\/press-statement\/center-genetics-and-society-receives-major-grant-confronting-eugenics-build-just\">3-year project Confronting Eugenics to Build a Just Future<\/a>. This initiative will challenge the resurgences of eugenics that are gathering momentum at an alarming pace. The three-year effort will equip scholars, students, advocates, and communities with tools to recognize and resist these tendencies, with particular attention to their current manifestations in U.S. science, technology, medicine, and public health. In December, CGS held the first of several workshops convening the Confronting Eugenics Network, made up of social change advocates across sectors and publicly engaged scholars across fields, all of whom are committed to countering eugenic beliefs and policies. The workshops will provide opportunities for network members to build relationships with others working to challenge eugenics, identify eugenic narratives and impulses in the project\u2019s focus areas, explore opportunities for anti-eugenic interventions, and initiate plans to implement them. A series of public events will broaden the initiative\u2019s reach, as will a new website designed to share anti-eugenic resources for teachers, students, advocates, and the public, as well as to promote existing initiatives working to counter the ongoing legacies of eugenics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Center for Genetics and Society recently launched the 3-year project Confronting Eugenics to Build a Just Future.
